Before you start testing, instruct the patient to turn off all their electronic devices in order to minimize noise.

Now, look in your patient's ear to ensure no excess cerumen is present.

Clean the patient's skin with abrasive gel before placing the electrodes.

Ensure equal placement of the reference electrodes.

Place a hand under the patient's chin.

Ask them to turn their head.

And where your hand lines up on the SCM muscle - this is where you place your reference electrode.

Place the ground electrode on the patient's low forehead and place the vertex electrode between the patient's clavicles.
